Red Light Therapy

This morning is brought to you by Red Light Therapy (Aka RTL).
I was always suspicious of LED Light therapy, skeptical for the most part. I started with incorporating red light therapy in my facial routine 3 times a week after a podcast I heard raving about it.
The reason I started incorporating it in my routine is after I stumbled on this article conducted by Harvard Health Publishing:
“Red and blue lights are typically promoted in LED skin treatments. Experts believe that red LED light acts on cells in the skin known as fibroblasts, which play a role in production of collagen, a protein that makes up a large part of connective tissue and helps the skin to recover when it's harmed. So, in theory, red light could help to reverse some of the signs related to photoaging in the skin, says Dr. Buzney. In addition, some studies show that red light may help to restore hair for those with androgenetic alopecia, or male- and female-pattern hair loss, she says.”
After using it for several weeks I have seen a noticeable improvement in skin texture, product absorption, and skin complexion. It also evened out my skin tone and definitely helped with hyperpigmentation, but keep in mind that this is based on personal experience please test try a patch beforehand! Better to be safe than sorry!
Based on our favorite podcast,(The Skinny Confidential) she mentioned the basic benefits of Red Light Therapy are the following (whether for face or body):
- safe & well-tolerated
- reduces inflammation
- less muscle pain & exercise soreness
- natural pain relief treatment
- helps with arthritis & joint pain
- helps wound & burn healing
- helps with bone & tissue injuries
All in all I definitely recommend RTL to any skincare routine. I have seen noticeable improvements in three weeks of using it!
Interesting podcast about LED light therapy is linked here
Highly recommended listening to it if hesitant to start!
